The company

Main purpose is to provide global leadership and strategic direction in Health and Safety to all levels of the business.  Our Client is one of the largest Manufacturing clients in NZ, iconic and the brand and company is very well known for looking after its people, processes and plant.

You will champion a health and safety culture that ensures efficient and incident free work and develop and ensure effective implementation of the Global H&S Management System to support business performance and effectiveness.

The role

The role is an integral part of the Global HR group, requiring an understanding of global practices, internal standards and a customer orientated culture.  This role has shared accountability with line and executive management for maintaining compliance both externally and internally whilst striving towards excellence in industry best practice standards.

Role profile – expressions of interest must cover these areas

  • You will be responsible for the Global Health and Safety Management System, developing recommendations for continuous improvement and will have demonstrated experience in this area.
  • You will be able to work within a risk management framework and thread this through the business enabling managers to do the right thing and work to interdependence.
  • Incident and accident management – have the capability to support your colleagues globally and maintain the system as the lead to ensure a consistent application is maintained.
  • Health and Safety Training – overseeing the Global Health and Safety Training framework and skills matrix to ensure awareness, information and training is provided commensurate with defined Health and Safety Responsibilities

Essential

  • Health and Safety management experience working in a large and complex organisation, with a diverse workforce
  • 10+ years of health and safety experience
  • Experience in applying operational excellence processes into an operational environment, preferably in a multi-site or similarly complex organisation.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and provision of support to senior business leaders and frontline leaders.
  • Expert knowledge of New Zealand Health and Safety laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of international law
