Leaders in the transport and Logistics industry throughout New Zealand, our client is seeking a truly proactive and experienced National Health and Safety Manager, to engage, influence and build a safer culture throughout the organisation.

The role

Reporting to the GM Safety, you will manage a team of two Health and Safety Managers who are based on the North and South Island.   The position is based in Onehunga, and you will be responsible for taking the Global framework forward within the 35 locations within New Zealand with your team of champions.

It is essential that you have a strong understanding of HSE Legislation, as well as the proven ability to engage and influence at all levels within the organisation.

In order to be successful, you will set high performance expectations for both yourself and the wider team, enabling the Company Health and Safety goals to be achieved.

You will

  • Have exceptional people management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage safety change
  • Current demonstrated  knowledge of the Health and Safety legislation
  • Significant experience in safety critical operations
  • Strong knowledge of contractor management
  • Strong attention to detail, report writing and presentation skills
  • Great problem solving and analysis skills
  • Strong monitoring and audit skills, including ACC PP experience
  • Project management skills

Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 5 years working in a similar environment.
