Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Advisor required with relevant industry experience.

The Company

Leaders in the transport and Logistics industry throughout New Zealand, our client is seeking a truly proactive and experienced Regional Health and Safety Advisor, to engage, influence and build a safer culture throughout the organisation.

Based in Onehunga, you will be responsible for all the North Island sites comprising of transportation, operations and 3PL warehousing.

The Person

It is essential that you have a strong understanding of HSE Legislation, as well as the proven ability to engage and influence at all levels within the organisation.

This is a role with challenge and variety and provides an excellent opportunity for you to make your mark and continue to build the safety culture.

In order to be successful you will set high performance expectations for both yourself and the wider team, enabling the Company Health and Safety goals to be achieved.

Skills and experience

Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, we would expect candidates to have the capability to drive health and safety accountability and improvement, with proven success in the following areas:

  • excellent Health and Safety legislation knowledge and understanding
  • great communication skills, including relationship building, influencing and educating
  • significant experience in safety critical operations
  • a good level of experience with contractor management
  • strong incident/accident investigative skills and follow through
  • a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
  • an excellent understanding of compliance and the ability to work to best practice long term
  • strong attention to detail, report writing and presentation skills
  • great problem solving and analysis skills
  • strong monitoring and audit skills
  • strong time management and project management skills

Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 5 years working in a similar environment.
