Seeking Environment, Health and Safety Advisor to provide regional environmental, health and safety advice, support and leadership to approx. 25 operational sites throughout the Auckland/Northland region

The company

Our client is a large national industrial manufacturer, providing a range of concrete products, systems and solutions to New Zealand’s domestic and commercial market.

The role

This is a key role to provide regional environmental, health and safety advice, support and leadership to approx. 25 operational sites throughout the Auckland/Northland region.

Work with key internal stakeholders such as Area Managers, Site Supervisors and Workers, the EHS and HR team, plus Trainers, as well as external stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and regulatory bodies.

Duties include

  • Educate, advise and influence to ensure compliance to company policy, procedures and legislation
  • Implement and contribute to key projects within the Groups EHS annual plan
  • Provide advice, coaching, training and support on all EHS matters to embed sound knowledge and practical application
  • Keep abreast of changes in relevant legislation in order to recommend changes
  • Establish and sustain strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of EHS policy, SOP’s, standards and practices consistent with company policy
  • Ensure regional audits are conducted regularly, evaluating findings and recommending appropriate actions
  • Collect, analyse and interpret information to support continuous improvement

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental/health and safety to post graduate level
  • Practical knowledge of legislation
  • Experience in construction or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Strong ability to influence and engage at all levels
  • Coaching and training skillset
  • Accurate and strong attention to detail
  • Clear and analytical thinker, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Solutions focussed with a mentoring and proactive approach
  • Can do attitude and strong ability to work at all levels
