Experienced Environment, Health, Safety and Risk Manager required – significant manufacturing experience is essential.

The role

Reporting to the Group GM for New Zealand, this position will be accountable for managing the safety, health and environmental function and associated management systems within the New Zealand business.

You will be required to build a culture where safe behaviour and adherence to site policies and procedures is part of everything they do so everyone gets safely home every day.

You will promote the delivery of guiding principles for Environment, Health, Safety and Risk (EHSR), engage with senior stakeholders and ensure effective policies, procedures, systems and services are in place, providing and maintaining the highest level of health, safety and environmental awareness from a risk management perspective.

Duties include:

  • Provide an exceptional level of service, support and advice to direct manager and key stakeholders
  • Provide EHSR excellence through strong leadership ensuring all policies and procedures are fully communicated and implemented throughout
  • Develop the annual plan and ensure implementation is managed effectively on all sites
  • Work with site leaders to identify and develop training/development initiatives
  • Risk/Compliance – develop procedures and standards to ensure compliance from a risk perspective
  • Engage and influence key stakeholders, providing advice and delivering regional initiatives
  • Full reporting function
  • Manage a highly effective team and coach for success
  • Achieve planned improvements in operational performance by working collaboratively with all stakeholders, develop specific plans to achieve targets set for EHSR
  • Provide visible safety leadership, encouraging accountability and responsibility throughout
  • Ensure the delivery of financial results within your control including planning and managing all costs to budget

Skills and experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Demonstrated and significant HSE Management experience with a proven level of professional credibility within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to produce high quality reports within timeframes
  • Expert knowledge of current NZ legislation
  • Demonstrated skills in business management, budgeting, planning and reporting
  • Sound working knowledge and success within ACC and injury management
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Goal orientated and solution focussed
  • Great problem solving skills with an Innovative approach
  • Motivated, influential and engaging personality
