Plan and develop company health and safety. Support employees and contractors on residential sites. Grow and drive a sustainable safety culture.

The role

This position works closely with the operational teams, clients and subcontractors to support a safety culture of excellence and provide sustainability.  Under the guidance of the Health and Safety Manager, this role ensures the company and its sites are fully compliant to legislative and industry standards.

This role owns continuous improvement of safety performance across the organisation and developing HSEQE initiatives. It requires you to be authoritative; a quick-thinker and have superior influencing and engaging skills.

Based in South Auckland, you will cover a wide region of sites. There will be occasional travel around the broader Auckland / Northland area.

Duties

  • Oversee HS management systems audits and facilitate self-audits
  • Participate and report on audits; inspections; investigations and meetings
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations
  • Supervise the Return to Work Programme and injury management
  • Facilitate induction training of employees and subcontractors
  • Build and develop HSE training resources
  • Actively manage and monitor hazards
  • Liaise with industry bodies and stakeholders on health and safety matters

 Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in a similar role with strong legislative knowledge
  • Commercial construction or residential background is preferred
  • Relevant OHS tertiary qualification
  • Current drivers licence
  • High level of cultural understanding
