The role

Under the guidance of the Health and Safety Manager, this role owns continuous improvement of safety performance across the organisation and developing HSEQ initiatives. This position works closely with the operational teams, clients and subcontractors to support and drive a culture of safety across the workforce.

Able to be based in the Takapuna or Papatoetoe office, this role covers the Auckland region and there will be frequent travel to sites to complete inspections, reviews, investigations and meetings.

Working across different environments, you will be composed, authoritative and have excellent people skills, as well as having a high level of cultural awareness and understanding.

Duties

  • Manage and deliver onsite briefings, training and initiatives
  • Complete risk assessments
  • Oversee HS management systems audits and facilitate self-audits
  • Participate and report on audits; inspections; investigations and meetings
  • Assist with regular reviews of HSE policies and procedures
  • Review and update HSE documentation
  • Conduct and report on incident, accident and near miss investigations
  • Supervise the Return to Work Programme and injury management
  • Actively manage and monitor hazards
  • Liaise with industry bodies and stakeholders on health and safety matters

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in a similar role with strong legislative knowledge
  • Commercial construction or residential background is preferred
  • A good level of risk management experience
  • Current class 1 NZ drivers licence
  • Relevant OHS qualification
  • Confident in conflict management, adaptability, decision making and prioritising
