Government organisation seeks a Health and Safety Advisor to support them with key safety initiatives over the next 9 months.

This government agency is responsible for regulating activities that affect New Zealand’s environment and enhancing a safe and sustainable way of life.
The role
As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will be instrumental in supporting their Senior Health & Safety Advisor to deliver on the Annual Health & Safety plan. This role involves all facets of health and safety from training, reporting, risk management and investigative work. You will need to be ready to engage with the business, be confident with Health & Safety systems and adaptable to change.
Duties
- Development of Health & Safety Systems, Polices and standard operating procedures
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and clients
- Reporting on all hazards, accidents, incidents and near misses
- Actively participate in health, safety and wellbeing initiatives including suggesting any improvements
- Support Senior Advisor with incident management systems
- Update and maintain the Health and Safety system
- Coordinate with the compliance/field-based teams
- Collate all data for various reporting purposes
- Assist with Health and Safety projects and initiatives
Skills and experience
- Certificate IV or tertiary qualified in Workplace Health & Safety
- Working knowledge of HSWA 2015 – legislative and technical
- In depth understanding of risk management practices
