About the role

Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, you will provide operational leadership, and expert health and wellbeing advice, with hands on engagement and support to enable a high functioning health, safety and wellbeing system and culture – with great participation, understanding and accountability by all.

This role supports senior leaders across the organisation to build on their capability, with the focus of developing best practice solutions that are integrated into the wider clinical and enterprise risk management frameworks. Continual improvement of systems, outcomes, and overall well-being within the organisation is a key objective. The ultimate goal is to position health, safety and wellbeing at the core of everyone’s thoughts and actions.

Skills and experience include:

You will have held a similar role and have great success stories to share – providing for a truly proactive and integrated approach within the areas of: health and wellbeing, including  planning and review, risk management, event and injury management, mentoring and training, as well as supporting a proactive culture.

Other areas which are essential or highly desired include: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Health and Wellbeing
  • Membership with NZISM or NZOHNA
  • Practical and working knowledge/understanding of the NZ HSWA 2015 and associated regulations, guidelines, codes of practice etc.
  • Other relevant courses such as ICAM or Learning Teams
  • Proven/successful experience in operational management, leadership, coordination, support role within a hospital environment
