Our client is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor for their site in Manukau – construction experience a must

The company

Our client is a well-established construction company working extensively across the central and upper North Island. With projects in commercial, industrial and residential construction they are dedicated to delivering innovative designs while assuring the safety of their clients, employees and contractors.

The role

This fixed term role is responsible for implementing and maintaining a healthy and safe environment on site.  Reporting to the Auckland Commercial Manager, you will have the support of the on-site management team and the Health and Safety Manager based in Hamilton.

A hardworking, dedicated and enthusiastic team; this is the chance to join them and improve on their already proactive safety culture.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys the daily involvement of the operations team as well as engaging with sub-contractors, suppliers and clients. You will be the visible face of safety on site – action promptly and act positively.

Duties

  • Maintain and improve current processes in place
  • Contractor management
  • Conduct/monitor prestart meetings
  • Participate and contribute to regular toolbox meetings
  • Sustain current Permit to Work system
  • Conduct site inductions
  • Administrate and coordinate the safety management system, policies and documents
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits
  • Provide reports and trend analysis as required
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Deliver workplace training as required
  • Provide first aid support
  • Facilitate drug and alcohol testing when required
  • Manage and purchase PPE and other required safety supplies

Skills and experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence and engage across all levels of the business
  • Proven practical safety experience in a similar environment
  • Minimum Level 4 National Certificate in OSH
  • Audit and Investigation qualifications are desirable
  • High rise residential and commercial construction experience is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in Contractor Management
  • High level administrative skill
  • Flexibility to work around site requirements and schedule
