Our client is seeking a high performing Health and Safety Coordinator to champion a Zero Harm Programme and support ongoing safety improvements
The company
Our client operates within a critical risk environment, providing a broad range of cargo handling and logistics services and enjoying a high profile within New Zealand. This is a dynamic, safety critical environment with 24/7 shift patterns and operations running 365 days of the year.
They are looking to recruit a Health and Safety Coordinator to join their People, Safety and Culture Business Unit. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager and working closely with a Safety Advisor, you will manage compliance with the HSWA 2015, documenting loss control, health and safety policies, regulations and procedures.
Preferably you will be safety qualified with proven experience within a Health and Safety Administration or Coordinator capacity.
The role requires you
To provide accurate and specialised reporting and administrative support to the Health and Safety Manager and wider operational staff. Assisting in the development of a safe and healthy workplace.
You will ensure compliance to HSWA 2015, developing the relevant documentation and reporting.
Duties include
- Ensure that employees and contractors comply with legislation
- Provide opportunities for employees to engage with HSE initiatives
- Report on compliance status, accident statistics and trend data
- Coordinate the delivery of specialist training
- Participate in health and safety committee meetings, driving continual improvements
- Assist with the delivery of specialist safety projects
- Audit SOPs
- Assist and coordinate investigations
- Update and maintain hazard registers
- Engage with senior stakeholders and operational managers
Skills and experience required
- Relevent safety qualifications
- Proven experience of coordinating safety processes in a high risk environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to interact and engage with a diverse workforce
- Strong computer skills, fully conversant with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
