Our client is a very successful privately owned manufacturing company.  They continue to grow at a fast pace and are always innovating; whether that be developing new products, new techniques, opening up new markets or investing in people and plant.  Employing over 150 staff in their NZ operations and exporting to markets all over the world, they are a NZ success story.

The role

You will be working as part of the Manufacturing Team and responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating workplace health and safety procedures ensuring continuous improvement in staff engagement, knowledge, process and procedures, and accidents and incidents.

As gatekeeper to the health and safety manual, you will ensure policy and procedure compliance; supporting clear understanding of the requirements to workers and their managers. You will maintain the risk register and drive EHS engagement across the NZ sites. You will also support the manufacturing and operations team with HR procedure and process function.

You will be detail focused, positive and resilient, and thrive working at a fast pace and juggling multiple tasks.  Above all, you will love helping people and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.  You need good knowledge of the NZ HSE regulatory framework and ideally previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

Duties

  • Administrate and coordinate the safety management system, policies and documents
  • Identify key hazards and control measures
  • Review incident reports and collate and advance other health and safety reports
  • Bi annual review of the risk register
  • Coach and engage with workers and operational managers, developing safety awareness
  • Facilitate and report on safety meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of current legislation, communicating changes to the leadership team
  • Manage Injury Claims
  • HR administration

Skills and experience

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to direct and motivate the team at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the business
  • Ability to effectively manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills and process focused
  • Working knowledge of the HSWA 2015
  • Minimum Health and Safety Certificate or Diploma (underway)
  • High level administrative skill
  • Flexibility to work around site requirements and schedule
