Our client requires an experienced HSEQ Manager who enjoys operating at site level, providing solid advice and influencing at all levels

 

About the role

Travel will be required for this position from Napier through to Whangarei in order to perform and document safety observations and audits.  Taking the opportunity to provide education and technical advice in order to build a proactive culture of care and understanding at all levels.

Quality control, reporting and analysis will also be part of the duties, along with upskilling and training personal and assisting with the review of JSEA’s/SWMS etc.

You will also be inducting new staff and providing great information through toolbox talks, encouraging everyone to look after themselves and their mates, and anything else that comes your way, including investigations and reporting.

 

Skills and experience include

Ideally you will have plant operation and/or construction experience with a strong preference for this to be within the rail industry.

Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build rapport, with an outcome focussed attitude – will set you apart from the crowd.

The successful candidate will need to have a strong ability with building robust and trusted relationships and have real credibility with the crews.

You will be experienced in dealing with multiple sites and competing priorities, easily able to juggle your day to suit.

  • Relevant Tertiary level qualification in OHS/Quality
  • Excellent knowledge of legislation and well networked in NZ Health and Safety circles
  • Attention to detail
  • A desire to achieve the best results through influence, mentoring and education
  • Ability to travel

 

About the company

Still relatively small in numbers, but with operators employed throughout the North Island, the organisation is in growth mode specialising in rail projects, track maintenance and emergency works, as a civil/construction company.
