Our global industrial products client is seeking a dynamic, engaging safety professional to take the next step in their HSE career.

About the role

Reporting to the Managing Director (NZ), you will be part of the regional APAC HSE team with oversite for national operations.  You will be responsible for managing, advising, educating and supporting the organisation on health and safety, enabling the development of a strong, practical and proactive culture.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced advisor who is looking to progress into a management role. The business has great systems and processes in place, with HSE strategy established in Australia. The key focus will be on developing relationships across regional sites, working with Services Managers, influencing behaviours and driving HSE engagement.

Suitable candidates will be tertiary qualified, with experience of working within a multi-site organisation. Experience of working within an industrial, engineering or transportation environment would be a distinct advantage.

The client can consider an East Tamaki or Christchurch location and we would welcome applications from full and part time candidates.

We would anticipate successful candidates would be able to demonstrate the above strengths, giving good examples from their experience in previous roles.

Duties

  • Monitor, coach, mentor and support, throughout the organisation
  • Ensure compliance with the Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System
  • Conduct regional workshops and drive engagement
  • Influence behaviours and raise awareness of key HSE issues
  • Assist in achieving continuous improvement in HSEQ
  • Maintain legal compliance and adopt best practice initiatives
  • Work to OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, ISO9001 standards
  • Work towards a more proactive safety culture
  • Engage with all key stakeholders to gain buy in, thereby achieving compliance
  • Train in all aspects of Risk Management, accident/incident reporting and investigations

Skills and experience

  • An excellent command of the English language – both verbal and written
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • The ability to work autonomously, with great self-motivation
  • Experience working within an industrial, engineering or transport environment
  • A collaborative, engaging approach
  • A results/outcome focussed personality
  • Be able to travel nationwide and to Australia on occasion

About the company

Our client has extensive global production, sales and service network to meet their customer demands, with components in 18 facilities throughout the world. The New Zealand business consists of circa 240 employees across 14 sites.
