The role

Reporting to the CEO, you will lead/champion a cultural change with regards to Continuous Improvement, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality to a point where excellence is expected and all stakeholders understand their responsibilities and are held accountable.

You will be responsible for compliance to legislation throughout the organisation and in building compliance to agreed standards i.e. ISO in all areas of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality –  supporting the strategic priorities and business operations of the organisation.

All of the above will be supported by a very engaged senior leadership team.

Duties to include:

  • HSEQ Strategy – development and implementation
  • Operational HSEQ leadership, mentoring and coaching
  • Lead and manage a highly effective HSEQ team
  • Ensure all HSEQ systems and processes are documented, current, accurate and effective
  • Provide direction, coaching/education and mentoring to all stakeholders
  • Influence and advise to ensure best practice HSEQ principles are embedded as BAU
  • Work closely with the CEO and members of the Executive Leadership Team on all maters of strategic and operational importance
  • Monthly Board Reporting, plus ad hoc reports on areas of accountability
  • Facilitate and lead the investigation process where necessary
  • Maintain robust relationships both external and internal
  • Undertake and support regulatory and operational audits as required

Skills and experience include:

  • Professionalism, integrity, with a credible and trustworthy approach
  • Leading by example, providing clear expectations and direction
  • Building and maintaining a culture of unity
  • Experience within a senior position, reporting at Board level
  • Outcome focussed and solutions orientated
  • Telecommunications, Utilities or Civil Construction HSEQ experience preferred
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (i.e. Diploma)
  • Excellent organisational and planning skillset, with great analytical skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional team player, strong ability to build robust relationships
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and flexible personality
  • Sound computer skills i.e. Work and Excel
