Our client requires a truly effective HSEQ Manager, to advise, influence and engage throughout their organisation – forestry sector.

This is a superb opportunity for an innovative and experienced, Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager to provide on the ground leadership and hold responsibility across all portfolios – reporting to the General Manager Forests.

A senior position, you will have experience in creating robust working relationships with key stakeholders and provide a high level of professionalism and integrity at all times, delivering/implementing health, safety, environmental and quality initiatives consistent with the organisations strategies, goals, objectives and annual business plan.

Duties include

  • Provide full HSE Management and Quality leadership and support; assist, educate and advise at all levels
  • Develop and implement fit for purpose, compliant and best practice HSEQ management systems
  • Lead a proactive culture in all areas of HSEQ
  • Manage contractor performance
  • Provide the level of training to management, contractors and staff to ensure timely and appropriate risk assessments are conducted
  • Provide training and conduct investigations to determine accurate root cause/s
  • Provide direction and visibility, considering continuous improvement and solutions for corrective actions – ensuring actions are implemented in a timely manner
  • Undertake audits in a proactive manner, completing relevant reports
  • Ensure compliance to relevant legislation
  • Report and monitor HSEQ performance indicators, both lead and lag

Skills and experience

  • Sound understanding of HSEQ management systems and legislation
  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferred
  • Experience in a similar role within a forestry or industrial environment
  • Excellent knowledge of current legislation
  • Inspirational, innovative and engaging leadership style
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills to provide best practice initiatives
  • Effective procedural development and implementation skills
  • Detailed experience in the preparation of Risk Assessments
