Our client is seeking an experienced and qualified Health and Safety Team Leader to initiate a new focus within their organisation

The company

Our client is a national (government) organisation with an extremely large number of employees and growing.

With a high-risk profile and already focussed on critical risk, there is a real need to ensure all systems and procedures (including Wellness) are aligned and integrated into all core operational activities.

The role

The purpose of this position is to provide support, coaching and leadership to the Health and Safety Advisors throughout NZ, ensuring a high quality, professional service is provided to the Districts and Service Centres.

Reporting to the Manager Health and Safety, you will develop and foster consistent standards of practice, develop training and education resources for use by practitioners across the Wellness and Safety Group, ensuring professional development and the fostering a peer mentoring environment.

Assist to deliver a more effective, enabling service, building a high performing safety and wellness culture – drive a sustainable focus on prevention through innovation, understanding and capability throughout the organisation.

Duties

  • Develop and promote consistency and excellence in all Wellness and Safety systems, policies and procedures
  • Analyse, research and identify best practice initiatives
  • This is your chance to lead and deliver on key projects, encouraging innovation
  • Build and sustain robust relationships throughout (both internal and external)
  • Support employee psychological and emotional wellbeing
  • Drive the focus on prevention
  • Be completely solution orientated
  • Deliver, enable and build a high performing safety and wellness team through professional development

Skills and experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (minimum Diploma OHS)
  • Robust Wellness and Safety leadership experience within a complex, high-risk organisation
  • Excellent analytical and research skillset in order to deliver innovative best practice initiatives
  • Influential and superb communication skillset – both verbal and written
  • Proven ability in building robust relationships
  • Experience working within a continuous improvement environment
  • Considered a respected contributor to Wellness and Safety within the workplace
  • You will be an influential, energetic, dynamic safety and wellbeing subject matter expert
  • Previous experience in managing, supporting and encouraging direct reports
