Experienced and dynamic Safety, Health and Environment Manager required to work within Supply Chain Logistics, for our well established FMCG client.

The company and role

Our forward thinking and well established food manufacturing client requires a proactive and experienced Safety, Health and Environmental Manager who is self-starting – a go getter by nature – based in the Auckland CBD.

Please Note:  there is significant travel required.

You will have excellent technical knowledge, understanding and experience preferably within a Supply Chain / Logistics environment, of how to gain buy in from all stakeholders, in a genuine and enthusiastic manner.

There is a great health and safety team spirit, very much supported by the management/leadership team and your role is to continue to support and grow the good work.

In general the duties will include

  • Instill a safety first culture where people clearly demonstrate safe behaviours and think safety before taking action
  • Ensuring risk management principles as well as hazard ID is embedded and understood by all
  • Provide specialist advice, leadership and coaching to create a self-sustaining safety culture
  • Lead the identification and delivery of strategic objectives, as contained within the 3 year strategic plan
  • Regularly monitor and report on SHE performance
  • Have a solid understanding of the audit process
  • Ensure all incidents are accurately reported and ensure root cause investigations are conducted for all significant HSE incidents
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory and company requirements
  • Drive behavioural change both external and internal, ensuring all managers understand and take ownership in driving SHE performance

 Skills and experience include

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Safety manager role within a large complex organisation
  • Contractor Management Experience
  • Experience within Supply Chain, Logistics and/or heavy vehicle transport operations
  • OHS Diploma/NEBOSH minimum
  • ICAM desirable
  • Experience in a Senior HSE Advisor or Management role
  • Good understanding of the supply chain environment
  • Resilient attitude

  • Adaptable and flexible in approach
  • Previous success with influencing a positive culture change
