National high-risk client with assets throughout the country are seeking a dynamic safety professional with knowledge of process safety.

The company

Our client is the leader in fuel management, operating a number of terminals across New Zealand.  They provide safe and efficient receipt, storage and transfer of products including petrol, diesel and aviation fuels.  Their services include the operation, engineering and maintenance of bulk fuel storage assets.

The role

They are seeking a confident team member with complementary skills to join the growing Risk and Compliance team in the central Wellington office.

Duties

  • Support their risk, safety and environmental framework.
  • Be the first point of contact for regulatory compliance advice.
  • Deliver specialist expertise and guidance to a range of stakeholders, including their workforce, customers, shareholders, and the regulator.
  • Develop best practice processes and tools to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Routinely check that activities performed under the Safety Management System are being conducted to a suitable standard.
  • Monitor performance of control measures designed to minimise risk and track corrective actions.
  • Champion and support operational excellence in safety management

Skills and experience

  • Experience in a compliance, risk management or HSSE practitioner role, or experience in quality management programmes
  • Knowledge of HAZOP and MHF legislation is highly desirable
  • Able to engage with operational teams, building relationships throughout the company
  • Experience with IT systems used for risk management and safety management systems
  • A minimum of 3 years HSE experience, preferably in a high-risk/safety critical environment
  • Qualified to a minimum of level 4 in OHS
