The role

Reporting to the CEO and supporting the Health, Safety, Quality and Compliance Team, you will be instrumental in minimising the organisations exposure to risk, especially Health and Safety – managing the critical risks and the Health and Safety function of the Group.

You will provide the leadership, ensure company awareness and compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, approved codes of practice and procedures – also providing support for the other business arms.

This is a significant role and key relationships will include the; CEO, COO, Operations Leader, Environmental Scientist, therefore an experienced leader and significant skillset in risk management is required.

Duties

  • Coordinate and lead to minimise critical risk, providing a high level of assurance and guidance to senior management
  • Provide for the delivery of appropriate and effective HS policy, process and procedures
  • Ensure Major Hazard Facility obligations are met
  • Support effective key stakeholder relationships including proactive interaction with other PCBU’s
  • Support effective environmental and phytosanitary compliance
  • Provide accurate and relevant advice to the CEO and Board on other areas of business risk
  • Integrate and embed risk management throughout all operational activities to embed as BAU
  • Provide an objective intellectual analysis of risk and the leadership required for continuous improvement
  • Ensure a solid review process is in place, considering the entire business when making recommendations to the BOD for improvements
  • Ensure CEO and COO are kept fully abreast through regular reporting and the organisation as a whole is communicated with effectively

Skills and experience (must have):

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and especially written
  • Strong, confident relationship skills
  • Significant leadership/management experience, preferably within a critical risk/MHF environment
  • Proven ability to drive the safety culture within a similar environment
  • Professional yet approachable, proactive and pragmatic attitude
  • Full understanding of legislation, regulations pertaining to risk
  • Strong and proven ability to influence, mentor and educate
  • Relevant OHS qualification and certifications would be advantageous
