 The company and role

This is a pivotal role for establishing clear accountability and ownership throughout the organisation (nationwide) and an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive team, developing a robust and proactive Safety and Wellbeing culture that has everyone working safely, every day!

Your focus will be specifically within the glazing side of the business, therefore experience within high-rise commercial construction is required.

Reporting to the Group Health and Safety Manager you will:

  • Champion and deploy safety and wellbeing improvement methodologies and toolsets across the glazing operations nationwide
  • Build capability through knowledge sharing and coaching
  • Build the safety and wellbeing team’s credibility through effective engagement with stakeholders
  • Create and maintain a reputation as the go to person for all related information and services
  • Communicate and liaise with suppliers and employees at all levels of the business, nationwide, to influence the desired improvement outcomes
  • Be the subject matter expert – sharing best practice initiatives that not only comply with legislation but go above and beyond.

Skills and experience include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety
  • Significant experience in a Health and Safety role with experience providing advice through a business partnership model, within commercial construction
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its amendments
  • Experience in development of Health and Safety Systems, Policies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Sound understanding of Risk Management and its application
  • Confident in training facilitation and presenting to groups
  • Willingness to question the status quo
  • Effective research skills and ability to interpret legislation
  • Self-managed and can take the initiative
  • Flexible, adaptable and enjoys challenge and change
  • Strong organisational skills and processes.
  • Ability to work in a complex work environment, deal with ambiguity and across functions
