About the role

A great opportunity for a motivated and passionate Safety Advisor to influence and steer change in a company committed to providing a safe work environment. With the backing of established safety processes, you will apply a practical outlook and develop user-friendly systems to take safety to the next level.

Duties

  • Provide training, direction and coaching to front line managers
  • Ensure compliance and audit requirements are met
  • Maintain existing safety processes with a view of continuous improvement
  • Administrate and report on injury management and prevention
  • Analyse trends and provide recommendations for change

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in making positive change and building a proactive and practical safety culture. Excellent communication and relationship building skills are a must, along with the confidence to present safety initiatives to management and employees.

You will provide the technical knowledge to support the wider business in ensuring a safe workplace in a practical manner applicable to their environment. With teams ranging from 3 to 15 people, you will successfully tailor processes to meet the requirements of each team.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health and safety
  • Auditing experience and qualification is desirable
  • Clear, confident written and oral communication is a must
  • The ability to translate regulation into practical application
  • Availability for planned travel
  • Experience in distribution or construction related environments
  • Full NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence

With just under 500 employees nationwide, the business has retail, wholesale and distribution branches from Kerikeri to Invercargill. Providing product in a construction related industry, their clients range from large trade to single operators and the general DIY public.
