The role

Reporting to the GM of Health, Safety and Environment, this is a key position that will see you working across multiple sites both in NZ and Australia.

You will deliver support and direction across the organisation, driving the implementation of the health and safety strategic and operational plans.

A high degree of travel is anticipated and the role can be based in either the Bay of Plenty or Auckland regions.

Duties include

  • Assist with strategic management; implementation, monitoring and review of health and safety programs and KPI’s
  • Model best practice, providing advice, practical guidance and support
  • Demonstrate visible commitment to health and safety leadership
  • Engage on site and communication/present health and safety using simple, interesting and effective language to suit the audience
  • Ensure stakeholders are kept up to date with all requirements, changes, challenges and plans – provide the guidance and training as required
  • Develop collaborative health and safety improvement strategies and initiatives
  • Support the Health and Safety Committees, providing information to ensure effectiveness.
  • Provide risk, incident and compliance management
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Ensure processes, documentation, records, training etc. are to best practice standards
  • Ensure monthly reporting is timely and accurate
  • Manage occupational health services to support injury and illness prevention
  • Promote employee health and wellbeing

Skills and experience include

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification (min. OHS Diploma)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application in a large organisation
  • Preference for working knowledge and experience within manufacturing
  • Proven experience developing, implementing and managing all aspects of health and safety
  • Proficient in the use of MS office products; excel, word and powerpoint
  • Expert knowledge of NZ legislation, plus Australian preferred
  • Superb time management skillset
  • Innovative, enthusiastic and truly personable by nature
  • Outcome focussed, with strong ability to prioritise
  • Comfortable working autonomously and ensuring stakeholders have the tools to ensure effective and appropriate risk management
