Our client is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Advisor, who has proven experience and understands the need to educate and influence for success.

About the role

This position will ensure the business is compliant to legislation through education, influence and great collaboration with both the management team and employees.

The person will provide an environment which enables ideas to be freely shared and systems and processes to be user friendly and fully understood at all levels.

Duties include the following:

  • Implement systems from a risk perspective
  • Provide practical health and safety advice and leadership at all levels
  • Keep everyone informed of relevant changes to legislation and developments in industry
  • Plan and oversee inspections and ensure accurate reporting and recording of all incidents, near misses and hazards in a timely manner
  • Coordinate all WHS training
  • Ensure supplier and contractor inductions are comprehensive and compliance levels are high
  • Model a high commitment level to all health and safety initiatives
  • Drive hazard awareness and procedures to continue to identify risk
  • Plus, whatever else comes your way……………

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will have sufficient Health and Safety experience to provide credibility, advice, review and maintenance of current systems, along with a high level of energy, with a very proactive attitude.

  • Tertiary level qualification (Diploma as a minimum)
  • Experience within a manufacturing or relatively high-risk environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organisational and prioritising skillset
  • A cheerful and friendly disposition
  • Proactive and eager to get people on board with new initiatives
  • Confident communicator with strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills
  • Self-managing and strong ability to solve problems
  • Experience in management ACC and return to work programs
