edenfx Newsletter AUGUST

Hello and a massive welcome to the August News!

How’s the world working out for YOU this month?

Regional behaviours, activities and local news is the hot discussion topics in our weekly meetings and we remain super flexible given most of the edenfx team are back operating from home offices as a result of lockdown in Auckland.

The beauty of having cyber safe, secure systems and processes is that we can transport our desks and communications to home offices with no disruption to service.

We appreciate the challenges that are being faced by clients, colleagues and friends throughout NZ and so we are working hard to get through August and treat September as not only the start of Spring but for new beginnings – fingers crossed.

Talking of New Beginnings – we are introducing and wanting to showcase our sister company, recruitHRpeople.  Yes, it does exactly what the name suggests.

The Company has grown from our existing and new client needs for an innovative, fresh look at how HR services are supplied.

The recruitHRpeople team look after everyone from Directors to entry level within the Human Resources disciplines and across all sectors.  If you know of any clients wanting to engage, employ or temporarily hire HR people, please let us know by clicking here and on their placement you will receive 18 holes of Golf for two people at the world class Gulf Harbour Country Club.

If you are not a golfer, then I would be happy to join you too as I need the practice and exercise as lockdown is contributing to my excuse called Covid kilos 😊

See you next month and thank you for your loyalty and support to our brand – we all really appreciate this.

So, what’s in this Newsletter?

Please also spread the word and follow us on our website and LinkedIn.

Thanks for stopping by and taking time to read.

Market Insights

This year is a darn roller coaster.

The nationwide recruitment data is very much on the same roller coaster so no real consistency nor trend as New Zealand truly is moving a month at a time on its hiring decisions. One month looks fabulous, the next to the depths of the pond.

So please treat the data as a pure standalone month and will be great to see the half yearly results – October reporting.

So, July’s performance is showing that the average salary for Occupational Health and Safety is $101K  and that Wellington and the West Coast is currently showing some shortages of candidates.

The actual number of vacancies and job advert growth is down 26.3 % against the numbers in the same period in 2019.

In terms of salary distribution as an overarching discipline (not sector specific) the numbers are as follows:

Occupational Health and Safety – All Sectors – Specialist and Generalist

Covid impact – People are sitting tight in their positions at the senior pay-bands and waiting to see what happens.

Opportunities are far and between and so competition is fierce at all levels at present.

Make sure you understand your value and scope of practice to position yourself ahead of the competition…. And yes, we can help you with this as part of our development packages.

Introducing the newest member to the family!
recruitHRpeople is for people just like you and me. We support Companies who are looking for Human Resources professionals across all generic and specialist disciplines AND we support HR professionals looking for their next career opportunity.

So, pull up a chair, fingers poised, phone at the ready as you are in the right place.

Permanent recruitment.
Recruitment practice may be the same the world over – you need people, we find people, you engage people. However, the way in which it is conducted of course will be different.

Our difference is a sustainable outcome for the company, the candidate and for the environment. For each successful appointment we plant a tree on your behalf contributing to healthy growth in more ways than one. We intend on building a few forests in and around New Zealand.

Our niche is HR Professionals and we recruit Director to Assistant positions and everything in between.

Interim, Short term, Contract HR recruitment.
Our HR world is flexible in nature and we must be flexible in practice. There will be times when you need an additional resource to meet varying and unplanned business needs. Interim HR recruitment just got easier, with recruitHRpeople.

Interim HR positions are the ideal way to support and manage change effectively, working across anything from a restructure to a merger, from business growth to downsizing. The opportunities and challenges in the markets are seriously dictating the movement of HR professionals in 2020.

Qualified and skilled professionals are not only able to ensure that the people management is dealt with in line with employment law, efficiently and ethically, they are also able to manage complicated processes and undertake specialised work.

Our talent bank enables us to perfectly match people to a job role, specifically taking into consideration skill-set, sector experience, culture fit and attitude. This leaves our clients safe in the knowledge that whatever their interim HR needs are, we have the best person to meet the requirements of the role.

Executive search.
Executive management search taps into the wealth of HR talent and assists in long-term planning for your organisation. Headhunting the right person for your position within a closed network enables you to reach the right person for your business. This is a retained senior management executive search function and is a highly confidential service for both candidates and clients to provide seamless transfer of skills and delivery within your business.

We recommend our Executive Professional Search Package for assignments with salary starting at $175k per annum.

Please click here to make contact with our recruitment Team or call us on 09 42 11 002 to start the process.

The finalists have been decided and the winners in each of the categories, and an overall winner, will be announced at a gala dinner at the Cordis Hotel in Auckland on 11 November.

Two lifetime achievement awards will also be presented: to Colonel Clare Bennett for her work in promoting better mental health in the defence force; and to Mike Cosman for his work influencing the development of New Zealand’s health and safety system.

Since their inception in 2005 the awards have become established as an annual highlight for everyone involved in the prevention of work injury and ill-health. Peter Bateman, Safeguard editor and convenor of the judging panel, says this year’s entries again illustrated the wide variety of approaches being taken to prevent injury and illness and to promote wellbeing. “Health and safety is all about people – not paperwork – so it’s always a pleasure to learn about the great work happening behind the scenes that otherwise would never be recognised outside the organisation concerned. Spreading the best ideas and acknowledging the people behind them are what these awards are all about.”

Good luck to our nominees for the edenfx emerging practitioner of the year:
