About the role

This is an opportunity for a proactive, engaging and enthusiastic Advisor to work with all sectors of this company, their contractors and sub-contractors. Working closely with the Health and Safety Manager, you will assist in developing and implementing a solid and robust health, safety and risk management programme.

A hands-on role, your days will be varied, and you won’t be stuck behind a desk, but you will have good IT and written communication skills for those times when the paperwork has to be done.

Duties

  • Effective delivery of group wide health and safety objectives
  • Coach and assist managers in achieving health and safety goals
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance
  • Manage 3rd party relationships with WorkSafe, ACC and other providers
  • Support the safety management system including alignment to ISO 45000
  • Identify training needs
  • Contribute to health and wellness initiatives

Skills and experience

Key to this role will be your ability to communicate health, safety and risk management processes to all key stakeholders in the business, leading by example so that safety becomes an everyday thing.  The successful candidate will have experience in a similar field and be able to show how they’ve successfully led change in a similar position. 

  • Formal qualification in health and safety
  • Solid, working knowledge of NZ legislation
  • Experience in root cause investigation methodologies
  • Attention to detail to maintain records and provide reports
  • The ability to lead safety in a professional and engaging manner
  • Experience in a construction environment
